November is the month to be thankful, which is why Time ReDesigned is giving thanks for our journey as a company. We thought we would share a little bit of that journey with you all to reflect on how far we have come and to express our appreciation for the ongoing support of colleagues, such as yourself.
Our Founder, Dr. Jobi Lawrence, didn’t set out to develop an educational technology company. She was working as a consultant for a number of school districts across the country and at one particular large urban district, she noticed that one school was “knocking it out of the ballpark” with at-risk youth. The identified model school has been recognized with back to back Blue Ribbon School status and has garnered other accolades for their work with students from the following demographics: 100% free/reduced lunch, 17% special education identified, and over 90% English learners. Such an accomplishment warrants additional study in an effort to replicate and scale the success across other educational contexts. Dr. Lawrence spent three years studying the model school and building a “blueprint” for the district to assist them in replicating and scaling the “best practices” identified in the model school. One key overarching finding during the three year study related to how the model school administrative team allocated their time by prioritizing the needs of its students. This student-centered leadership construct really resonated with Dr. Lawrence and the idea for Time ReDesigned was born – a tool for helping administrators understand and reallocate their time to prioritize student-centered leadership.
Ultimately, this idea became a prototype of the Time ReDesigned mobile app and software which we have come to know and love. Over 200 administrators and school leaders tested this prototype and expressed their desire for a technologically advanced “time management” system geared specifically towards their role as school leaders, bringing us to where we are today. Since the inception of Time ReDesigned, we have recognized that we cannot give school administrators more time. However, we have always believed that we can help them achieve more with the time they already have. While the solution is focused on student-centered leadership with the long-term goal of improving student outcomes, we have learned along the way that short term outcomes identified by school leaders implementing the system include:
Checking everything off the professional “to do list”.
Minimizing the reactive nature of school leadership
Achieving a better work-life balance
Relieving some of the stress related to school leadership
This month, take the time to be thankful for each and every accomplishment, whether it be professionally or personally. Everyone has their own journey and success story; and this is ours!
