December is for Decluttering

As we wrap up old and head into the new, it’s time to start thinking about some resolutions for the 2020 year. One resolution can be to declutter some old work habits! What’s not serving you? Leave it in 2019! Take a step back and review this past year. Think about what’s worked for you and what hasn’t. Here are a few tips that can help simplify your new year!

Set S.M.A.R.T goals. Or in other words, Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-bound Goals! If your goals are not producing rewarding results, there must be something lacking in the goals that you are setting. Consider setting goals the right S.M.A.R.T. way and kick your productivity into high gear.

Get rid of distractions. Did you know that on average, 759 hours are lost to workplace distractions? Distractions turn one hour tasks into three hour tasks. Emails, text messages, and social media are the top distractions in the workplace. Put your phone on silent, and turn off your data. You’ll be way more efficient simply by doing these two small things.

Do less but impactful. The most successful people take on less tasks but produce better results. Having less things on your plate opens up more room to complete each task with better quality. More effort will be given to each task, which will create high quality productivity.

Set self imposed deadlines. Give yourself your own deadline for an open-ended task. This will help you steer your focus and accomplish your goals on time. Set benchmarks along the way for tasks that take longer than an hour. In 15 minutes, where do you want to be? In 30 minutes? By setting the mini deadlines, you can keep moving forward and stay focused.

Work in 90-minute intervals. Researchers have found that elite performers who work in intervals of no more than 90 minutes, perform better than those who work longer stretches than that. Once the clock strikes 90 minutes-- take a break! Then come back to the task. It will significantly increase your productivity!

Time ReDesigned can help you be more efficient by managing your time more wisely. Adding these five tips into your professional toolbox can help you maximize your time and increase productivity.
